Delete your Saucebook account
You can delete your account and your kitchen data at any time. Here's how, and what happens next.
First: cancel a store subscription
If you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play, cancel there first. Deleting your account can't cancel a store subscription, so the store would keep billing you. Cancel in your iPhone's Settings (your name, then Subscriptions) or in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions).
A web plan (paid by card through Stripe) stops renewing when you delete your account. You won't be charged again, and the plan ends at the end of the period you've already paid for.
How to delete your account
In the app
- Open Saucebook and sign in.
- Go to Settings, then Account, and tap Delete account.
- Tap Delete account again to confirm. If you haven't signed in recently, the app first asks for your password or a 6-digit code it emails you.
Your account is deleted right away and you're signed out on every device.
If you own a business kitchen with other people in it, the app asks you to transfer it (Kitchen settings, then Transfer ownership) or remove the others first.
Or by email
Can't sign in? Email privacy@getsaucebook.com from the email address on your account, with the subject Delete my account. Want a copy of your recipes first? Say so in the same email and we'll send them to you as a file before anything is deleted. We'll reply to confirm your account is scheduled for deletion.
Recipes saved only on this device
Recipes you saved without an account live only on your phone or in your browser. To remove them, delete the Saucebook app, or clear this site's data in your browser settings.
You have 30 days to change your mind
Deleting can be undone for 30 days: sign in again and choose to restore your account, or, if you deleted by email, reply to our confirmation email. 30 days after you delete, your account record is anonymized and its data is deleted: your recipes, prices, pantry and backups are removed for good.
What we keep
- Anonymous totals, like how many recipes were saved in a month. They were never linked to your account.
- Billing records, kept for tax purposes for 7 years, with no email attached. Stripe, Apple and Google Play also keep their own payment records.
- Recipes you added to someone else's kitchen stay with that kitchen.
More details are in our Privacy Policy.
