Is the recipe cost calculator really free?
Yes. The recipe cost calculator is free to use. Add your ingredients and what you paid, and it shows the total recipe cost and the cost per serving.
How do I work out food cost percentage?
Divide what a dish costs to make by its menu price, then multiply by 100. A plate that costs $3 to make and sells for $12 has a 25% food cost. Saucebook does the math for every recipe.
How do I price a menu item?
Start with the plate cost, pick the food cost percentage you're aiming for, then divide the cost by that percentage. A $3 plate at a 30% target comes to $10. The same steps work for catering pricing, bakery and cake pricing, food truck menu pricing and pricing homemade food to sell.
Can I use Saucebook for my family's grocery budget?
Yes. Save the meals you cook most, and Saucebook shows what each one costs and the cost per serving, so planning a family meal budget is easier.
Does Saucebook scale recipes?
Yes. Change the number of servings and every ingredient amount and the cost update with it, so the portion cost stays right.
What plans are there?
Home: Free, Plus ($4.99/month) and Family ($8.99/month). Business: Free, Starter ($18.99/month), Growth ($39.99/month) and Pro ($69.99/month). You can pay monthly, every 6 months or yearly.
Who can join a Family plan?
The account owner plus up to 4 household members. Owners must be 18 or older. Members join by invite and must be 13 or older.
Can I control which staff see a recipe?
Yes. On business plans, every recipe has a "Who can see this" setting: All staff, Adults only or Managers only. Staff never receive recipes they aren't allowed to see.
What happens to my recipes if I sell my business?
You can transfer ownership to the buyer. Recipes, photos, staff and roles stay with the business, and you can download a copy for your records first. Your paid plan ends at the transfer, and the buyer picks their own plan.
Does Saucebook work on my phone?
Yes. Saucebook is a web app, so it works in the browser on any phone or computer. Your recipes sync both ways across all your devices.
Are my recipes private?
Your recipes are never shared or sold. They stay in your account and the people you invite.
